Rayan, Marcus Tavernier and Evanilson scored at Old Trafford, to pile more pressure on Carrick.

United have now failed to win their last eight fixtures in all competitions.

After the game, Carrick was asked if he was expecting to be sacked.

He replied: “I am not expecting anything.

“I will always do what is best for the football club.”

It remains to be seen if Carrick would still be in charge for United’s trip to Chelsea next Saturday.
