Ekiti SUBEB deploys 20 vehicles to boost primary school monitoring

He said the provision of the vehicles would give officers the operational support required to carry out their responsibilities across public primary schools in the state.

Monitoring and evaluation officers are responsible for assessing school activities, checking adherence to approved education standards, collecting relevant data and identifying areas where intervention may be required. Regular field visits also help authorities determine whether education policies and programmes are producing the expected improvements in teaching and learning.

Commissioner for Human Resources Management, Dr Olufunke Fajobi, said the initiative was consistent with the state government’s human capital development agenda.

Fajobi commended the SUBEB leadership for giving attention to staff welfare and operational needs, noting that a properly equipped and motivated workforce was important to achieving better learning outcomes.

Also speaking, Commissioner for Project Management, Kayode Adeoye, said the vehicles would strengthen SUBEB’s ability to monitor projects being implemented in schools.

He explained that improved field access would assist officials in assessing the quality of project execution, ensuring value for money and monitoring the sustainability of interventions carried out in schools.

The Executive Secretary of the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC), Dr Aisha Garba, also commended Ekiti SUBEB for the initiative.

Garba, who was represented at the event by UBEC State Coordinator, Tokunbo Olajubu, reaffirmed the commission’s commitment to working with SUBEBs to strengthen basic education across the country.

She described Ekiti as a model in the utilisation of UBEC matching grants and the implementation of the commission’s programmes, assuring the state of continued support for efforts aimed at improving basic education.

The event was attended by a SUBEB board member, Alhaja Lateefat Arilewola, directors of the board, Education Secretaries from the 16 LGEAs, Headmaster-Generals and the monitoring and evaluation officers who received the vehicles.
