· · 1 min read

The Eagles finally forced turnovers. They found an unlikely touchdown producer. They still could not finish.

Philadelphia surrendered a 10-point halftime lead and lost to the Los Angeles Rams, 24-20, on Sunday at Lincoln Financial Field. Kyren Williams scored two fourth-quarter rushing touchdowns as the Eagles fell to 2-2 with their second consecutive defeat. Jalen Hurts threw two touchdown passes to Darius Cooper, but Philadelphia did not score after halftime and finished 0-for-12 on third down. Hurts completed 12 of 27 passes for 93 yards and was sacked four times. The Eagles managed just 172 total yards.

The defense helped create a 20-10 halftime advantage. Andrew Mukuba intercepted Matthew Stafford on the Rams’ opening possession, ending Philadelphia’s three-game takeaway drought. Cooper DeJean added another interception shortly before halftime, setting up Hurts’ second scoring pass to Cooper.

Philadelphia could not build on that cushion. Saquon Barkley exited with a hamstring injury after two carries and was ruled out. Jonathan Greenard later left with an ankle injury and was ruled out as well. Leading 20-10 in the fourth quarter, Nick Sirianni kept the offense on the field on fourth-and-goal from the 2. The Eagles failed to score. Los Angeles followed with a 98-yard touchdown drive, then regained possession after another Philadelphia punt and drove 79 yards for the winning touchdown.

Stafford finished with 316 passing yards despite throwing two interceptions. Puka Nacua caught nine passes for 125 yards and scored a rushing touchdown. Williams added 80 rushing yards, two touchdowns and 10 catches.

Cooper finished with three receptions for 33 yards and both Philadelphia touchdowns. His performance supplied an encouraging development, but the offense’s inability to sustain possessions defined the loss.

The Eagles face Jacksonville in London next Sunday.
