Durham sign Australian midfielder Lowe
Durham have completed the signing of Australian midfielder Rachel Lowe.
The Wildcats announced the news via a post on their official club website earlier today.
The 25-year-old moves to Maiden Castle off the back of a decade playing her football in her native Australia. Lowe started her career with Western Sydney Wanderers before going on to turn out for Sydney FC, Sydney University and Sydney Olympic. The midfielder joined latest club Melbourne Victory in 2023 and she has spent the last three years at AAMI Park.
On the international stage, Lowe has been capped by Australia on one occasion. That cap came back in 2018.
After joining Durham, Lowe said “It’s nice to finally be here. I’ve had a warm welcome, all the girls are really friendly and I’ve had my first session – so I’m feeling good.
“I’ve played for ten years in the A-League, so I was ready for a change and a challenge. The BWSL2 is only getting more and more competitive, so I was wanting to try something new and get a challenge.
“I’ve played professionally for ten years and I’ve had experience with the national set-up for Australia and in a professional league, so I’ll be looking to use that knowledge and experience.
“I’m excited to play for Durham and hopefully, I can do well for the club and we can have a great season.”
Lowe is Durham’s third signing of the summer transfer window.
