The Mason McTavish trade rumors are getting louder.

The latest Anaheim Ducks news involves the New York Rangers and St. Louis Blues.

The Athletic’s Pierre LeBrun reported Thursday night that McTavish has official offers into the Ducks from both of those teams:

McTavish is a talented youngster still. It hasn’t quite reached its peak in Anaheim, though, and so the Ducks may look to move him on for different assets.

The change of scenery could do well for McTavish, but the Ducks have to be careful not to give up on him too early.

In a recent trade rankings board, The Athletic’s Chris Johnston puts McTavish as his sixth-ranked player who could potentially be available.

And in his blurb, Johnston makes it quite clear that the Ducks and McTavish are likely to split up:

“This was not the kind of season McTavish or the Ducks had in mind when they agreed to a $42 million, six-year extension in September. Not only did the 23-year-old find himself an occasional healthy scratch, including during the playoffs, but he saw a decline in his average ice time and offensive production. The puck-handling skills, vision and shot that made McTavish a top draft pick remain, but so do some of the questions about his skating ability. A fresh start is likely coming.”

The Rangers and Blues are certainly both after him.

It’s also been floated that the Red Wings and Maple Leafs could make calls on McTavish, too.

Don’t expect him to remain in Anaheim for long.
