Dolphins reportedly set to work out reigning MVP

The Miami Dolphins are set to enter training camp with four quarterbacks on the roster, as Malik Willis is slated to start, Quinn Ewers is expected to be the backup and both Cam Miller and Mark Gronowski are battling for third spot on the depth chart.

However, the Dolphins are apparently looking for more competition for the room, as KPRC2’s Aaron Wilson reported that Miami is set to host quarterback Jack Plummer for a workout next week.

Plummer played at Purdue from 2018-21, California in 2022 and Louisville in 2023, where he earned All-ACC honors. After going undrafted in 2024, he signed with the Carolina Panthers and spent his rookie season split between the practice squad and active roster.

The 26-year-old failed to make the roster last year and sat out the season before joining the Orlando Storm of the UFL. He led the team to an 8-2 record while completing 65% of his passes for a league-leading 2,189 yards, 17 touchdowns and one interception. His performance earned him All-UFL honors, and he was named the MVP of the league.

Plummer is also set to work out for the San Francisco 49ers on Friday, July 24, so if he does well in front of Kyle Shanahan’s staff, he might not make it to his workout in South Florida next week.
