Tucker went from first to second base on a single by teammate Tommy Edman. After taking a moment to collect himself, the veteran outfielder was replaced by pinch runner Alex Call.

Tucker is baseball’s highest paid player this season, at $60 million. He is off to a slow start in Los Angeles, hitting .234 with six home runs and six stolen bases in 74 games.

For all the shortcomings of Tucker’s first season since signing a four-year, $240 million contract in January, availability was not among them. He has appeared in all but one game this season. In his first plate appearance against the Twins, Tucker drew a walk against Zebby Matthews.

More to come on this story.
