Dodgers' Freddie Freeman creates piece of MLB history

Freddie Freeman created a piece of MLB history against the Pittsburgh Pirates on Tuesday night.

The Los Angeles Dodgers‘ first baseman delivered career hit No. 2,500, becoming MLB’s 102nd player to reach that standard. Freeman’s iconic run-scoring hit developed off reliever Brandan Bidois in the seventh inning at PNC Park, leading the Dodgers to a 12-3 victory.

Freeman, who went 2-for-4 Tuesday, became the seventh player to collect his 2,500th hit with the Dodgers. Over his past 18 games, he slashed .357/.429/.686.

Freeman, who spent his first 12 seasons with the Atlanta Braves, also celebrated his 300th home run and 500th double milestones with the Dodgers. A nine-time All-Star, Freeman helped the Dodgers capture back-to-back World Series titles and earned the 2024 World Series MVP.

A potential future first-ballot Hall of Famer, Freeman remains the active MLB leader in hits, doubles (563), RBI (1,358) and runs scored (1,414).
