Dianna Russini took shot at J.J. McCarthy while using Vikings to get out of traffic ticket

New bodycam footage from a traffic stop not only shows former NFL reporter Dianna Russini using Minnesota Vikings head coach Kevin O’Connell to get out of a traffic ticket, we also hear her take a shot at quarterback J.J. McCarthy.

The newly released video comes from a police bodycam during a traffic stop that took place back in in January, nearly three months before Russini was caught up in a scandal with New England Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel, which led to her resignation from The Athletic.

In the clip, Russini, who was pulled over for being on her phone, asks the cop what his favorite team is, to which he responds the Vikings.

“I’m a Vikings fan, unfortunately,” the police officer said.

Russini then pulls up text messages with O’Connell and shows them to the officer hoping to get out of the ticket.

In the process of all that, Russini takes a shot at McCarthy, saying he “sucks.”

Ultimately, Russini was successful in getting out of the ticket because the police officer let her off with a warning.

“I’m gonna cut you a break on the cellphone,” the cop said. “I understand your job requires you to be on the phone a lot. Just try to wait ’til you get home, OK?”

This is just another bad look for Russini, although it matters very little at this point because her career as an NFL insider was already over because of the Vrabel scandal.

Nobody will say Dianna Russini is the model of honesty at this point, but she wasn’t lying about J.J. McCarthy.

In his first year as the Vikings’ starter, McCarthy was one of the worst quarterbacks in the NFL.

In fact, he was so bad that the Vikings appear willing to pull the plug on him after one season as the starter, as evidenced by the team signing Kyler Murray during the offseason.

Murray and McCarthy are now in a competition for a starting job, but through mandatory minicamp it’s looking like the former is the clear front-runner for the job over the latter.

McCarthy still has training camp and the preseason to turn things around, but it’s not looking good for him to unseat Murray as the leader.
