Over the 2025-2026 MLB offseason, the Arizona Diamondbacks explored the potential of a Ketel Marte trade, but wound up pulling him off the trade block to keep him in Arizona.

While there were issues with the team last season, things calmed down. But, according to USA Today’s Bob Nightengale, it seemed as if the Diamondbacks second baseman might have more problems with the club, and a trade could be on the table once again.

However, Francys Romero of Beisbolfr.com reports that the Diamondbacks have made another trade decision on Marte, indicating they are not going to trade the All-Star second baseman, and that the rumored problems within the club are not true.

“Several industry sources have told me that Ketel Marte will not be traded to any other team,” Romero reports. “I’ve been told that there are currently no issues between Ketel and the D-Backs, and that some of the stories circulating on social media are simply not true.”

The Marte trade rumors, which popped up once again after Nightengale’s report, were completely shut down with this report. As one source told Romero, “Marte isn’t going anywhere.”

This situation is a fascinating one, as one MLB insider is reporting there are issues between Marte and the club, while another is reporting things are fine.

While Nightengale didn’t go out of his way to re-open trade rumors about Marte, his report did indicate there were people within the D-Backs organization who had a problem with Marte.

But those rumored issues seem to have been false based on this report from Romero. Assuming Romero’s report holds up, the Diamondbacks aren’t getting rid of Marte anytime soon, as the $105 million All-Star is going to be around through 2030.

This will be a story worth paying attention to as the season moves along. But, for now, it appears likely that Marte isn’t going anywhere, and these rumors about an issue with him and the club were not true.
