Devlin reunites with McInnes at Rangers following Hearts exit

Rangers have announced the signing of Cammy Devlin following the expiration of his contract with fellow Scottish Premiership side Hearts. 

Hearts revealed on Friday that Devlin had missed the deadline to take up the offer of a new deal, thus allowing him to leave the club and seal a switch to Rangers. 

The 28-year-old, who was a part of Australia’s World Cup squad, is the third significant arrival at Ibrox from Hearts, following Derek McInnes and Lawrence Shankland.

Devlin joined Hearts from Newcastle Jets in 2021 and went on to make 176 appearances, registering 18 goal contributions (eight goals, 10 assists) during that time. 

He has put pen to paper on a two-year contract, with the option of an additional year, and Devlin acknowledged the huge responsibility that comes with representing Rangers. 

“It feels amazing,” Devlin told the Rangers website about his move to the Glasgow giants. 

“I am obviously so happy to get it over the line; with the gaffer coming here and a lot of change happening at the club, it feels like a great time to be coming here.

“It is just an absolute honour and privilege. I am aware, being in Scotland for a while, of the size of the club and everything that comes with playing at such a massive football club.

“To call myself a Rangers player now feels pretty special, and I just cannot wait to get started.”

Devlin becomes Rangers’ sixth addition of the summer transfer window following the arrivals of Shankland, Ross McCrorie, Ben Godfrey, Ivor Pandur and Dan Neil.

He played a crucial role in Hearts’ 2025-26 campaign, where they missed out on a first top-flight title since 1960 following a final-day defeat to eventual champions Celtic. 

No player made more tackles than Devlin’s 69 in the Scottish Premiership last season, while 226 duels won ranked as the fourth-highest in the division. 

“Cammy is obviously a player I know, and I am well aware of what he will offer to Rangers,” McInnes added. 

“His levels of consistency for me were superb, and he is the type of player that every manager wants in his team.

“He is someone who knows the Scottish league, and nothing will surprise him with what lies ahead.

“I am looking forward to welcoming Cammy to Rangers and working with him again after he returns from his holiday.”
