Despite offseason additions, Titans secondary ranked among NFL’s worst

Throughout the offseason, there has been a lot of talk about how analysts and outlets have completely disrespected the Tennessee Titans, and some have gone against the grain by downplaying the moves made by general manager Mike Borgonzi.

One area where the Titans made a big splash was in their secondary, where they added Cor’Dale Flott, Alontae Taylor, and Joshua Williams to bolster their empty cornerback room. To no surprise, the analysts at Sharp Sports were impressed by the moves.

Credit the Titans for trying to improve a struggling secondary, but Alontae Taylor and Cor’Dale Flott probably aren’t the upgrades Tennessee was hoping for at the start of the offseason. Failing to spend a single draft pick on their floundering secondary was an odd choice.

Just like all of the other positional rankings done by Sharp Sports, the Titans come in a lot lower than what many fans would expect. Yes, the signings were not earth-shattering, but they were tremendous upgrades over what the team deployed in 2025.

This also doesn’t seem to take into account the upgrades with the scheme under Robert Saleh and along the front seven with the additions of Jermaine Johnson and John Franklin-Myers to join Jeffery Simmons, which should help take some of the pressure off the back end of the defense.
