Deputy Senate President Barau sacks Rashida as special assistant over alleged anti-party activities

Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau I. Jibrin, has relieved Rashida Adamu, popularly known as Rashida Mai Sa’a, of her appointment as a Special Assistant in his office.

The decision takes immediate effect, according to a statement issued on Monday, by Shitu Madaki Kunchi, media aide to the Deputy Senate President.

The statement said the decision followed allegations of anti-party activities and conduct considered detrimental to Barau’s political interests in Kano State.

It said investigations into the allegations found that Mai Sa’a made public statements that could incite political supporters and undermine the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state.

“The decision followed allegations that Rashida made statements capable of inciting supporters, engaged in activities aimed at undermining the All Progressives Congress, and made disparaging remarks against Senator Barau,” the statement said.

Barau’s office also accused the former aide of making disparaging comments against the senator despite benefiting from political appointments and institutional support provided by him.

The development came a day after an administrative advisory issued by Barau’s office on Sunday, September 27, warning political appointees against activities it described as internal sabotage.

Mai Sa’a’s removal is the second high-profile disengagement from Barau’s team in recent weeks.

Earlier, the senator also relieved another legislative aide, Umar Alhassan, popularly known as King Indara, of his appointment.
