Deion Sanders weighs in on how Jaguars should utilize Travis Hunter

As many continue to speculate about how the Jacksonville Jaguars should utilize Travis Hunter in Year 2, his former head coach, Deion Sanders, believes that answer is pretty simple.

“They’re not going to ask me,” Sanders told D.J. Saddiqi of Covers.com. “I thank God that you’re asking me. The kid won the Heisman Trophy playing both sides of the ball. That’s all I’ve got to say on that.”

Sanders has said previously that after drafting Hunter, the Jaguars never reached out to him for any sort of insight.

While many believe that Hunter should only play defense, the Jaguars have remained committed to him playing both sides of the ball. But how exactly that playing time shakes out remains to be seen.

Hunter’s rookie season was cut short due to a knee injury, but before then, most of his snaps came on offense.

This year, he could see the majority of his playing time come at cornerback, where he is expected to start opposite of Montaric Brown. Hunter is still going to factor into the offense, but how much, with a unit consisting of Brian Thomas Jr., Jakobi Meyers, and Parker Washington, not to mention the Jaguars wanting to use more two and three-tight-end sets, is not known.

According to Saddiqi, Sanders is still giving advice to Hunter early on in his NFL career.

“I consider him not only as one of my players, but he still is like a son to me,” Sanders said. “So of course, definitely.”
