Davide Frattesi set for Lazio after €15 million Inter agreement

Davide Frattesi is set to join Lazio after the club reached a complete agreement with Inter, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Lazio will pay €1 million for the initial loan and hold a €14 million purchase option. That option will become mandatory if the agreed conditions related to Frattesi’s appearances or Lazio’s final Serie A position are met.

Inter will also retain a 50% future-sale clause. The percentage gives the Italian champion a considerable interest in Frattesi’s next transfer despite accepting a relatively modest initial package.

The agreement takes Frattesi back to the club where his development began. He joined Lazio’s academy as a child and spent seven years there before moving across Rome to continue his youth career with Roma.

Frattesi later reached senior football with Sassuolo, completing loan spells at Ascoli, Empoli and Monza before becoming a Serie A regular. Inter signed him in 2023, initially using a loan with an obligation to buy.

The 26-year-old produced several decisive moments in Milan. He scored a late winner during Inter’s Champions League victory away to Bayern Munich and later found the extra-time goal that sent the club into the 2025 final against Paris Saint-Germain.

Regular starts were harder to secure. Frattesi frequently entered matches from the bench because of the competition in Inter’s midfield, and a departure had been discussed during several transfer windows.

Nottingham Forest came close to arranging a loan in January, but Frattesi remained with Inter until the end of the campaign. Lazio has now presented a clearer route to regular football.

His movement should suit a team looking for more goals from midfield. Frattesi is at his best when attacking the space beyond the forwards, arriving inside the penalty area after the opposition’s attention has moved toward the ball.

The 50% clause is one of the most important parts of the agreement. Lazio can sign an experienced Italy international for an affordable initial sum, while Inter will receive half of a future fee if his value rises following more regular starts.
