David not planning to leave Juventus

Jonathan David is hoping to stay at Juventus, despite a difficult first season in Italy.

David joined Juve on a free transfer last year, after five impressive seasons at Lille.

The striker netted 109 goals in 232 appearances for Lille, drawing attention from some of Europe’s elite clubs.

Juve won the race to sign him, but David only managed eight goals in all competitions in 2025-26, underperforming his 12.9 expected goals (xG).

However, he has impressed for Canada at the World Cup, netting a hat-trick in their 6-0 thumping of Qatar.

There has been speculation Juve could aim to cash in on the 26-year-old, but he has no plans to leave the Bianconeri.

“I have a five-year contract, so as far as I am concerned, I will be staying there,” he told RAI Sport.

Against Qatar, David became just the third player in the World Cup (since 1966) to record 5+ shots on target (five) and 15+ touches in the opposition’s box (15) in a match, after Eusebio vs North Korea in 1966 and Uwe Seeler vs Italy in 1970.

And David referenced Canada’s style of play when it comes to helping him thrive.

“I think when you play for your club or national team, it is going to be different, because these are two very different teams,” he added.

“Canada have a different playing style, so more or less everything changes.”
