Dave Portnoy slams ‘absolute clown’ Enes Kanter’s antics at Fever-Sky amid Caitlin Clark masterclass

Enes Kanter’s behaviour and subsequent removal from the Indiana Fever vs. Chicago Sky game on Sunday led to criticism.

Kanter attended the Sky vs. Fever game in Chicago’s Wintrust Arena to bring more national attention to his 2027 WNBA Draft campaign, which might have worked, as the WNBA removed him from the game after a heated interaction with Sky guard Natasha Cloud.

However, even people who agree with Kanter’s position on trans athletes are getting angry at these actions taking attention away from the on-court action, especially after what Caitlin Clark just did.

Dave Portnoy calls out Enes Kanter

Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy is nothing if not a sports superfan first. That was clear when Portnoy slammed Kanter for his actions, lamenting the lost attention that Clark deserved for her incredible performance.

“I don’t think boys should be allowed to play in girls’ sports. I also think Enes Kanter is an absolute clown for making this issue about him. We should be talking about how Caitlin had another double-double: 37 and 10.”

Portnoy calling out Kanter’s attempts at snatching attention from the WNBA is fair, as this is the most relevant he has been in pop culture since his NBA career ended a couple of years ago.

Kanter’s position as an advocate for sports to remain separated by gender isn’t the problem for Portnoy or like-minded WNBA fans; it’s that Kanter was acting cartoonishly to try and attract the courtside spotlight while attending a nationally televised WNBA game.

Caitlin Clark dominated against the Sky despite Enes Kanter distraction

Kanter’s presence was known before the game started, as he created a lot of buzz outside the arena before the game. That didn’t faze Clark, who had 37 points and 10 assists in a 113-90 win.

The game was still close heading into the fourth quarter, but the Sky were completely blown away by the Fever, primarily Clark and Kelsey Mitchell, who combined for 16 points in the fourth to help Indiana outscore Chicago 30-13 in that period.

Mitchell had 30 points to go alongside Clark, as this electric scoring duo delivered another incredible performance in the late-season stretch.

The final week of WNBA games before the September FIBA World Cup break is about to begin, and the Fever will hope they can maximise wins now and be able to rest Clark before the tournament.
