The Sacramento Kings are still searching for their first win in the early-goings of the 2026-27 season, but rookie guard Darius Acuff Jr. has been a major bright spot. Despite the Kings’ most recent loss, 123-113 to the Memphis Grizzlies, Acuff had another big game, surpassing former Kings guard Jason Williams for third most points through three games as a rookie, as per Kings on NBCS.

With 22 points against the Grizzlies, Darius Acuff Jr. has a total of 67 points through the first three games of his Kings career, trailing only Maurice Stokes and Oscar Robertson, respectively. Stoke had 75 points through his first three games and Robertson had 72. Jason Williams is now in fourth place on the list with 56 points.

The No. 7 overall pick in the 2026 NBA Draft, Acuff spent one season at Arkansas before declaring for the draft. His stoke rose throughout his lone year with the Razorbacks to where he was a sure lottery pick coming into the draft.

Through the first two games of his NBA career, Acuff has been averaging 22.5 points, 2.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 1.5 steals with splits of 30 percent shooting from the field, 11.1 percent shooting from the 3-point line and 76.5 percent shooting from the free-throw line. Obviously the shooting percentages raise eyebrows, but there isn’t any questioning the talent.

And against the Grizzlies, Acuff had 22 points in 36 minutes while shooting 9-of-23 from the field, 2-of-9 from the 3-point line and 2-of-2 from the free-throw line. He also added three rebounds, seven assists and one blocked shot. He only had one turnover as well. The shooting percentages are still a concern, but it does look like the Kings got a great building block for the future.
