Dan Quinn: ‘It’s on me,’ Commanders should’ve clocked it before disastrous final play

· · 2 min read

The Washington Commanders are 1-3-1 after somehow ending their home game against the New York Giants in a 27-27 tie. They were in control for the entire game, and were up by two scores at one point, but couldn’t finish the job. Washington needed a win to stay competitive in a weak NFC East, but they are stuck at the bottom, missing an opportunity to get into a three-way tie with the Eagles and Cowboys.

Dan Quinn was at the podium after the game trying to explain what happened on Sunday, especially at the end of the game and the second-half defensive collapse that preceded it.

Did the Commanders offense know they didn’t have any timeouts left on the final drive of overtime?

I asked Chris Paul.

He told me, “Yes, that was talked about in the huddle.” pic.twitter.com/Mi8PnqcLa1

I spoke with Treylon Burks about the end of overtime execution.

Did the Commanders offense know they didn’t have any timeouts left?

Treylon told me, “you line up and run the play that is called.” pic.twitter.com/wsCHqA5E5R
