Cyberpunk Edgerunners: Burn Bright Officially Kicks Off A New Era

Now that season two of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners is officially out courtesy of Netflix, the animated show inspired by Cyberpunk 2077 is the talk of the town. The second season may feature a brand-new cast of characters, but with it being set in Night City, it is guaranteed to offer no happy endings, and those familiar with season one will be all too familiar with the pain the writers are capable of inflicting.

Releasing on 20 October, it has been just over 24 hours since fans were given the opportunity to return to Night City and enjoy the 10-episode standalone season. Not only that, but CD Projekt RED surprised fans once again by announcing that it would be releasing a massive Edgerunners-inspired update for Cyberpunk 2077 to correspond with the new season. A little tip for the future is to never believe it when CDPR says that it is done updating a game.

Although the Edgerunners universe may now be dedicated to a brand-new group of misfits, many of us have never forgotten the original characters, such as David, Lucy and Rebecca. With the song ‘I Really Want to Stay at Your House’ still inflicting tick damage even after all these years, it is no wonder that fans would appreciate any opportunity to see their favorites alive and happy once more and luckily, they will now be able to courtesy of a brand-new release.

Revealed on the official Cyberpunk TCG site, fans of the hit trading card game set in Night City can now look forward to a new set which is set to launch in Spring 2027. Titled Edgerunners: Burn Bright, set two expands on the foundation of the first, by “introducing players to iconic and beloved characters, weapons, Cyberware, and scenes from Cyberpunk: Edgerunners.”

As the blog post reads, “Soon, players worldwide will sit down at their Local Game Store to experience Cyberpunk TCG for the first time at a Welcome to Night City Pre-release event. It’s an exciting time, but we’re sure many of you are already wondering what’s next…

“Expand your crew with new Legends and Units, or build entirely new ones composed of your favorite characters from Cyberpunk: Edgerunners. Unlock powerful new competitive strategies to take down your Rivals, and change the game with a ton of new chrome and some brand-new mechanics.”

Featuring stunning and vibrant artwork that captures the bright lights of Night City, and highly detailed portraits of some of our favorite characters, the brand-new cards will also include foil and textured finishes, and even an all-new rarity, which will be revealed at a later date.

The brand-new booster packs for Edgerunners: Burn Bright will head to participating stores in Spring 2027, but a week before its release, you will be able to participate in Pre-release tournaments, giving you the opportunity to get your hands on the cards before anybody else. Again, dates for these tournaments will be revealed soon.
