Cross River police strengthen partnership with DSS, Air Force on security

The Cross River State Police Command has strengthened its partnership with the Department of State Services, DSS, and the Nigerian Air Force to improve intelligence sharing, coordinated operations and rapid response to emerging security threats in the state.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Ajo Geoffrey Ordue, stated this during separate strategic engagements with the State Director of the DSS, Mr Oluwole Faluyi, and the Commander, 305 Special Mobility Group, Calabar, Group Captain B. N. Samaila.

Ordue, who described intelligence as a critical component of modern policing, said security agencies must work together to detect and neutralise threats before they escalate.

He stressed the importance of “timely, accurate and actionable intelligence” in preventing crime and responding effectively to security challenges confronting the state.

According to him, closer collaboration between the police, DSS, Air Force and other sister agencies would strengthen the state’s security architecture and enhance the protection of lives and property.

The police chief said the Command was committed to maintaining robust institutional relationships with other security agencies, noting that no single agency could effectively tackle emerging security threats in isolation.

At his meeting with the DSS Director, Faluyi, discussions focused on intelligence sharing, information exchange and improved inter-agency coordination, particularly in identifying, preventing and responding to security threats before they become serious.

Ordue said, “Stronger collaboration among security agencies remains critical to sustaining peace and protecting lives and property across Cross River State.”

At the engagement with the Nigerian Air Force, the Commissioner called for greater operational synergy between both agencies, especially in areas requiring complementary capabilities and coordinated deployment.

He said effective security operations required “seamless cooperation among sister agencies,” as well as professional communication, mutual support and coordinated responses.

The Commander, 305 Special Mobility Group, Group Captain Samaila, assured the Commissioner of the continued support of the Air Force towards strengthening joint security efforts in the state.

Samaila also pledged to sustain a more continuous and harmonious partnership with the police in tackling security challenges.

The Commissioner reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to intelligence-led policing and stronger collaboration with the DSS, Nigerian Air Force and other security agencies to prevent crime, protect lives and property, and sustain peace across Cross River.
