Como director Ludi: “We want to show our strength vs Roma.”

Como secured a historic Champions League qualification last season and has no intention of abandoning those stages; Roma has been warned.

The Como side will have to get used to playing close matches, but their debut in Europe’s premier competition went well, with a 4-1 victory against Leipzig.

In the league, however, Cesc Fabregas’s men suffered a disappointing defeat against Frosinone, leaving Nico Paz and his teammates currently in eighth place.

They’re just three points away from the top spot; their next match is against the top-seeded Giallorossi: a win would put the Lombardy side back in contention for the top spot.

Carlalberto Ludi, Como’s sporting director, spoke to Sky Sport ahead of the match against Roma.

He praised Gian Piero Gasperini’s team: “It will undoubtedly be a stimulating match, extremely difficult against one of the strongest teams in the league.”

But Como will give it their all to secure the result: “We want to play seriously to prove we’re their rivals.”

The former defender then shifted his focus to managing energy levels with so many upcoming fixtures: “We want to be competitive and manage our physical and mental energy for the many fixtures. I’m sure we’ll be ready.” The Lombardy side have clear ideas: put the match against Frosinone behind them and get back on track when the season resumes.
