Washington Commanders quarterback Commanders news: Jayden Daniels to missJayden Daniels was forced to leave the 37-20 Week 2 loss to the Dallas Cowboys early after he sustained an elbow injury. He was given an X-ray later on Sunday, and the results suggest he’s going to be out for some time.

Reports indicate that the 25-year-old signal-caller suffered a dislocated left elbow, according to NFL insider Tom Pelissero of the Ringer and Netflix. The X-ray results revealed that Daniels did not fracture his elbow, but he will be out for an undetermined amount of time.

“Commanders QB Jayden Daniels dislocated his left elbow again, coach Dan Quinn confirmed, adding that an X-ray didn’t show a fracture,” Pelissero reported.

With the former first-round pick needing time to recover, Quinn acknowledged that the team will have to rely on Marcus Mariota for the time being, per Pelissero. Mariota stepped in on Sunday, finishing the game with 111 passing yards and a touchdown while completing 68.7% of his pass attempts.

“We’ll rally around Marcus [Mariota],” Quinn said.

Daniels exited the contest totaling 96 passing yards and one touchdown with a 64.7% completion percentage. He also led the Commanders in rushing with 69 yards on the ground off seven attempts.

This is the second straight year Jayden Daniels has suffered an elbow injury. He was limited to just seven games in the 2025-26 campaign due to several different injuries. The third-year veteran dealt with a knee injury and a hamstring injury before a dislocated elbow in his left arm ended his season in Week 9.

Marcus Mariota will get the start in Week 3. The Commanders are scheduled to face off against the Seattle Seahawks in front of the Washington home crowd.
