Cleveland sports legends spotted cheering on Guardians at ALDS Game 5

Former Cleveland Browns quarterback Bernie Kosar

Kosar, 62, played for the Browns from 1985-1993. He is a Youngstown, Ohio native so Cleveland fandom is in his blood.

Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce

Kelce is a Cleveland Heights native who played college football at the University of Cincinnati. He is a minority owner of the Guardians. The Chiefs have a bye in Week 5 making it a no-brainer that Kelce would be in attendance. Kelce’s wife, Taylor Swift, was not present.

Former Cleveland Indians player Lonnie Chisenhall

Fan-favorite Lonnie Chisenhall, 38, who played his entire career with the Cleveland Indians from 2011 to 2018 threw out the first pitch.

Winner take all

The Guardians and White Sox are giving MLB fans the only winner-take-all divisional series game. The other series were resolved in four games.

While the White Sox have the papal blessing of Chicago native Pope Leo XIV, the Guardians have the roaring home field advantage. The Guardians are seeking their seventh appearance in the ALCS with the most recent in 2024. The last time a Cleveland MLB franchise won the World Series was in 1948.

The winner will not have much time to celebrate as the Tampa Bay Rays await in Game 1 of the ALCS on Monday, October 12.
