Cincinnati Reds set franchise record vs. Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field

CHICAGO – The Cincinnati Reds haven’t done much well this year. Especially the lineup.

But when they hit four more home runs against the Chicago Cubs on Sunday (Aug. 30), they made franchise history.

It was the 12th time this season they’ve hit four in a game, breaking the 2021 record of four.

On this night, rookie Hector Rodriguez hit a three-run shot in the fourth; Dane Myers (solo) and Tyler Stephenson (two-run) added a pair in the fifth; and Rookie of the Year favorite Sal Stewart hit a solo shot in the seventh.

It was Stewart’s 31st of the season and ran his MLB-leading RBI total to 105.

It was the second time during the three-game weekend series against the Cubs that the Reds hit four home runs – and third time during this three-city road trip (also Saturday, Aug. 22, in Arizona).
