Chris Gotterup passes $7 million in earnings after winning John Deere Classic

With most of the big names on the PGA Tour taking a week off before a two-week stay in the United Kingdom, the top finishers at the John Deere Classic on July 5 at the TPC Deere Run in Silvis, Ill., took the opportunity to move up substantially on the money list.

Winner Chris Gotterup moved back into the top 10 with his check for $1,584,000 and is now eighth, passing $7 million in earnings. He was on top of the list twice before this season after winning the Sony Open and the WM Phoenix Open but had dipped to 14th entering the week at Deere Run.

Also making big moves were runnerup Max Homa (76th to 53rd) and the trio of players tied for third, Lucas Glover (going from 98th to 83rd); Lee Hodges (121st to 90th) and Ben Kohles (140th to 104th).

The top seven on the money list, led by Scottie Scheffler with more than $15.1 million, remained unchanged. But that will get reshuffled in the next two weeks with $26 million or more up for grabs at the Scottish Open (July 9-12) and the British Open (July 16-19). The purse for the Scottish Open is $9 million ($1,620,000 for the winner) and the Open purse last year was $17 million, with $3.1 going to Scheffler for his victory.

The British Open purse will be announced the week of the tournament.

The membership is up to 92 for the season with Glover and Hodges reaching seven figures.

There are 61 players with $2 million or more, 42 with $3 million or more, 29 topping $4 million and 20 with $5 million or more.
