Chiefs’ training camp video of Patrick Mahomes and QB room goes viral
The Kansas City Chiefs posted a video of Patrick Mahomes and the QB room throwing passes during training camp. It featured the two-time NFL MVP, along with Justin Fields, Garrett Nussmeier and Chris Oladokun.
They all passed quickly, showcasing that they are in good shape ahead of the 2026 season. Mahomes continues to recover from the torn ACL he sustained in December but looks sharp and not hampered by his injury. The quarterback battle in training camp is expected to be fierce and competitive.
The clip on X has since gone viral, with more than two million views.
Mahomes will reportedly be ready to return as early as Week 1. However, Kansas City is not taking any chances and brought in Justin Fields from the New York Jets to serve as insurance at the position. He has 53 career NFL starts under his belt and will likely be the team’s QB2 once the three-time Super Bowl champion is back to full strength.

Fields joined the Chiefs on March 18 after the franchise sent a 2027 sixth-round pick to New York. They then drafted Nussmeier at No. 249 overall in the seventh round out of LSU. The former Tigers star spent five years with the program and went 5-4 last season.
The Pittsburgh Steelers waived Oladokun in 2022, but he signed a practice squad deal with Kansas City. The team promoted him to the active roster on Dec. 20 following Mahomes’ injury the week prior, and he started his first NFL game on Christmas Day against the Denver Broncos.
The Chiefs will likely ease Mahomes back before he takes over his QB1 job full-time. Fields will serve as his backup, while Nussmeier and Oladokun will battle for the third-string role.
