Chicago Bears sign former Notre Dame long snapper in 2nd stint

According to NBC Sports’ Pro Football Talk, the Bears signed Daly off the New Orleans Saints‘ practice squad and added him to Chicago’s active roster.

It is Daly’s second stint in Chicago, with the first in 2024 and 2025. The Bears released the former Fighting Irish before the start of the 2025 season as part of final roster cuts.

Daly signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in May but was waived in late August. The Green Bay Packers then signed him to the practice squad on Sept. 2 but was released less than two weeks later.

The Saints signed Daly to their practice squad last Friday before he rejoined the Bears.

Daly, an undrafted free agent in 2017, had stops with the Dallas Cowboys (2018) and the Detroit Lions (2021-23). He also played for the San Antonio Commanders of the Alliance of American Football (2019) and the New York Guardians of the XFL (2020).

A Downers Grove, Illinois native, Daly played for Notre Dame from 2012 to 2016. He was the Irish’s starting long snapper for three seasons. Daly started in 39-straight games and was perfect on 253 snapping opportunities between his junior and senior seasons.
