Chelsea and Man City have a lot of connections between their squads and staff – and that could be about to get deeper.

Chelsea and Manchester City have a lot of connections between them already right now, with the Blues having signed a host of former City youth players and staff members in the last few years; while City appointed former Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca as manager this summer.
Those connections could grow even deeper in the weeks to come, with news that the Cityzens are sniffing around Malo Gusto, the Chelsea right back who has been rather pushed out of the frame at Stamford Bridge by the arrival of Marco Palestra from Atalanta.
Man City may soon be ready to do business over Enzo
The Gusto deal sounds pretty distant right now – Chelsea’s £75m asking price is proving a considerable stumbling block. But there’s an even bigger deal which could yet happen, and would really blow the market open.
Enzo Fernandez’s situation has looked hopeless for a while – he pushed for a move to Real Madrid only to see the Spanish side publicly deny their interest. Since then he’s been on his post-World Cup, stewing quietly. He can’t be looking forward to his return to Chelsea, given how he burned his bridges. But he may yet get a magical reprieve from it all.
There are growing whispers in the last 24 hours that City (who were linked with Enzo in the past but never seemed to come close to making a bid) would get serious about signing the Argentine if Rodri leaves – and that move looks more and more likely.
Barcelona are pushing hard to sign the World Cup winner, and that will leave City down a midfielder with a player Maresca is known to like very much available.
