In the aftermath of a brutally disappointing home loss against Tottenham on Saturday, people are looking for where to put the blame.
Xabi Alonso has come in for a lot of criticism for his tactics, which saw the Blues setting up very deep and passive, trying to play on the counter attack.
Meanwhile Cole Palmer, who didn’t offer anything in attack and then got a red card at a crucial moment, has also been criticised.

Now we’re seeing people look at Maxence Lacroix too. He’s been brought in to be the big, dominant, physical bruiser in the middle of our back three.
Instead, with the game on the line, his challenge on the advancing Mathys Tel was really weak, and the France striker scored with his next touch.
He’s made a solid start to life at Stamford Bridge, but if we want to become a team that is finally reliable in defence we’re going to need far better efforts from the France international. Can you imagine Gabriel of Arsenal letting a player past him at that stage of the game? We certainly can’t.
