Congratulations to the 11 weekly winners of the Delaware Online Athlete of the Week and Team of the Week polls for the 2026 spring sports season.
Weekly polls will continue throughout the summer selecting the top player in each position across Delaware high school football and the top athletes in each of the other fall sports.
Here is the complete list of spring winners.
Weisenberger hit a walk-off double in Smyrna’s 6-5 win over Milford. Across two games, she had six RBIs and seven hits, including three doubles and a triple. The Silver Eagles defeated McKean 13-3 and Middletown 11-9.
Mahoney had 33 kills, eight aces, seven blocks and 19 digs in wins over St. Joseph’s Prep (PA), Saint Mark’s and Odyssey Charter. Smyrna defeated Conrad (5-0) and St. Georges (5-0) to finish the week 3-1.
Weigand scored four goals and had an assist in a 6-1 win over Tower Hill. Conrad had a 10-0 win over Delaware Military Academy and a 4-1 win over Sussex Academy.
DeFilippis went 3-for-3 with two RBIs and two runs scored in an 8-1 win over Padua. The Riders defeated Smyrna 11-9 and Milford 13-8.
Williams earned the win, pitching five innings and going 2-for-4 at the plate in a 14-4 victory over Newark. Mount Pleasant swept Red Lion, Glasgow and Archmere to improve to 6-3.
Meko scored six goals including the game-tying and go-ahead goals in an 11-10 win over Ursuline. Meko also recorded an assist. In an 18-8 win over DMA, Meko had five goals and two assists. The Force defeated Conrad 14-1 and Brandywine 14-5 to improve to 8-3.
Williams scored seven goals, including the go-ahead goal with 45 seconds left, in a 9-8 win over Hodgson. He also had three goals in a 7-5 win over Concord. Concord boys volleyball defeated Red Lion and Mount Pleasant to improve to 11-4.
In wins over Dickinson, MOT Charter and Ursuline, Young hit .833, scored seven runs, recorded seven RBIs and stole three bases. The Ducks earned their highest finish at the DIAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships, placing second in Division I.
Wilkins ran on the winning girls 4×200 in Division I at the state meet and placed fifth in the girls 100 at the Meet of Champions. Wilmington Christian defeated Sussex Academy 1-0 in the first round of the DIAA Division II Girls Soccer Tournament.
Salesianum defeated Cape Henlopen 15-5 to win the boys lacrosse state championship. Motta scored a team-high five goals in the win.
Appoquinimink defeated Odessa 3-0 in the DIAA Division I Girls Soccer Championship. Beatie scored the second goal.
