Charles Barkley has strong words for LeBron James that his fans won’t like
Charles Barkley has made some interesting comments over the past couple of years about certain NBA players, and it doesn’t sound like it’s going to change anytime soon. Barkley has been very outspoken about how he feels about players, and that’s just who he is.
However, his comments over the past couple of years about LeBron James, even at this stage of his career, seem a bit unfair. James is undoubtedly one of the two best players to ever play this game, and at this point, it’s getting very difficult to say that he’s not the greatest of all time by a somewhat wide margin.
Even at this age, however, James is facing a lot of pressure to win with the Philadelphia 76ers.
Fair or not, this is exactly what happens when a player is as good as James. Barkley threw a slight shot at James and put some pressure on him ahead of his season with the 76ers, which is expected to be his last.
“We have to be honest about LeBron. If he gets swept in the playoffs the last couple years, so just because you’re putting up good numbers don’t mean you’re being effective,” Barkley said, H/T Heavy.
“And I’m not taking a shot at LeBron, it’s just facts. You know, people say he’s defying the odds. I’m like, well, if my memory serves me correctly, he’s gotten swept in the playoffs the last couple of years.”
It’s interesting that Barkley makes these comments knowing how old James is. However, this is exactly what James has signed up for, unfortunately.
He’s not the guy that he once was because of his age, but he’s still very valuable, and that was evident throughout this offseason despite how old he is.
