Chandler Smith on brink of elimination in the 2026 Truck Chase

Chandler Smith overcame multiple setbacks to finish 14th in Friday’s Love’s RV Stop 225 at Talladega Superspeedway. The Front Row Motorsports driver qualified 14th and entered the event hoping to strengthen his position in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series championship Chase.

Smith began the afternoon facing difficult competition as drivers battled for position through multiple drafting lanes. His race became more complicated during Stage 2 when a flat tire forced him to make an unscheduled pit stop. The problem cost Smith valuable track position and left him attempting to recover during the remaining portion of the event.

His afternoon became even more challenging when he was involved in the accident on Lap 57 that eliminated Jake Garcia and Conner Jones. Despite encountering multiple problems, Smith managed to remain in competition and complete all 86 laps. He ultimately finished 14th, earning 23 points and salvaging a respectable result from a difficult afternoon.

Smith remains fourth in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series Chase standings with 2,229 points. However, he now trails championship leader Kaden Honeycutt by 142 points, significantly limiting his remaining championship opportunities.

With Martinsville and Homestead-Miami remaining, Smith will need exceptional performances to improve his final standing.
