Champions League: Paul Merson names player Arsenal will regret selling
Arsenal legend, Paul Merson, has identified Gabriel Martinelli as the player whose absence could cost the Gunners in the UEFA Champions League this season.
Arsenal will begin their Champions League campaign with an away match against Napoli on Wednesday.
The Gunners finished as runners-up last season after losing to Paris Saint-Germain in the final.
However, Merson believes Arsenal’s decision to sell Martinelli to Al-Hilal could hurt their chances of winning the Champions League this term.
Speaking to Sky Sports about Arsenal’s chances of winning the Champions League, Merson said:
“When you go and play PSG away and Bayern Munich away, and they come and have a go at you, they won’t have that fear of that pace of Martinelli on the counter-attack, and that will cost them.”
