Cavan Sullivan becomes youngest USMNT scorer ever with Mexico strike
Cavan Sullivan’s first goal for the U.S. men’s national team came against its biggest rival.
The 17-year-old took advantage of a dreadful error from Mexico goalkeeper Raúl Rangel on Saturday, Oct. 3, finding the net from long distance to become the youngest USMNT goal-scorer ever.
With the USMNT up 1-0 in the 63rd minute, Sullivan intercepted a pass from Rangel 30 yards from goal. With the Mexico goalkeeper stranded way off his line, Sullivan calmly chipped the ball over his head and into an empty net.
