It was a night to remember for Santaigo Castro, making his debut for Argentina.
The Roma striker played his first match for the Seleccion in Argentina’s 7-0 win over Burkina Faso.
The Roma striker was brought on by coach Scaloni in the second half in place of Lautaro Martinez, fulfilling a career-long dream.
After the victorious match, Castro celebrated the occasion on Instagram: “There are moments that stay with you forever, and today I had the chance to experience one. Wearing this jersey for the first time and representing my country is a source of pride that’s hard to put into words.”
Santiago Castro then added: “Thank you to everyone who has accompanied me and been part of this journey. As a child, I dreamed of this moment, and today I can say it has come true. An unforgettable day. May it be the first of many.”
In the mixed zone, Santiago Castro said: “I can’t describe it in words. It’s an immense feeling.” And on Messi: “It will be the first time I’ll meet him. It’s a wonderful feeling, but also a little sad, because you want to see him play forever. It’s thanks to him that I fell in love with this sport, the national team, and this jersey.”
