Case Keenum's message for Bears teammate Tyson Bagent after benching
Chicago Bears quarterback Case Keenum is no stranger to having a bad game. He has been in the NFL since 2013 and has had his fair share of disastrous performances, so he was there to give Tyson Bagent some friendly advice after his game against the Green Bay Packers this past Sunday.
“You don’t last very long in this league if you don’t know how to get back up when you’ve had your a– kicked,” Keenum said. “That’s just the way it is. There’s really good players, really good coaches, really good teams, and if you last long enough, it’s just a matter of time that you’re going to get your a– kicked.”
Bagent had the worst game of his young NFL career with two interceptions, sacked twice, was horribly inaccurate, only had 87 passing yards and was benched in the fourth quarter for Keenum, who also threw an interception, his first since 2023. However, part of Keenum’s message to Bagent was emphasizing how important his response to this game is.
“It’s not about that. It’s about how you respond,” Keenum said. “I expect him to respond like he knows how to. It’s adversity to learn from. It’s an opportunity to learn from your mistakes and move on and make them again.”
For Chicago’s Week 6 game against the Atlanta Falcons, the Bears are hopeful to have starting quarterback Caleb Williams back from his hamstring injury after he was able to practice in a limited fashion on Friday. If Williams is not ready to return yet, Keenum is probably the one who is going to get the start after Bagent’s performance.
