Capello lauds Roma: “They’re the true anti-Inter.”
Fabio Capello believes in Gian Piero Gasperini’s Roma.
The former Giallorossi coach, interviewed by Gasport, identified the Roman team as Inter’s main rival in the Scudetto race, focusing on the squad’s growth, Gasperini’s decisions, and the quality of the available alternatives.
“Roma have continued along the same path as last season and is maintaining the same attitude with a solid foundation of play and quality. He also fielded a new player, Mora, who has already fit perfectly into the team’s mechanisms. I said it twenty days ago: the anti-Inter is, in effect, Roma.”
“Roma plays one-on-one all over the pitch and, above all, has this proactive style of play that makes everyone help each other out: when you have four or five quality players present in the penalty area, who know how to communicate in tight spaces, sooner or later something happens. And against Atalanta, the winning goal finally came.”
“Gasperini? He’s instilled in the players the idea of sacrifice, and that’s crucial. He’s built a team since last season with sporting director Massara, who deserves credit for his work. The players follow him because he’s a credible coach.”
“They all play with the same desire to win because they’ve understood that they’re competitive. I haven’t seen a single Roma player come onto the pitch so far with the attitude of someone who feels offended at being a substitute during a match.”
