Caleb Wilson has been one of the biggest standouts of the 2026 NBA Summer League so far. As the fourth overall pick by the Chicago Bulls, everyone expected Wilson to be a hit, and so far, he has been stellar.

When it comes to his game, Wilson was mostly profiled as an athletic wing with upside on both ends of the floor. Most projections for his offense were mostly restricted to the paint or the mid-range, but he has surprised a lot of people with his three-point shooting at Summer League.

Billed as a high-upside athletic wing, Wilson was always going to be a project player. He is not the most complete player in the class, but he has already proven that he is ready to work hard to become a star for Chicago.

Wilson has been working with the renowned shooting coach, Chris Matthews, better known as Lethal Shooter on social media. They have worked together to improve Wilson’s shooting, which was considered by many to be his biggest weakness.

During his year playing for the University of North Carolina, Wilson did not shoot many threes. This led draft experts and scouts to see his shooting as a negative. However, it seems Wilson is glad that happened because it helped him land in Chicago.

“I’m glad I didn’t shoot threes in college because if I did, I wouldn’t be here. I don’t know where I’d be. I don’t think I’d be a Bull,” Wilson said about how his apparent shooting issues helped him reach Chicago.

While Wilson was not a promising shooter back then, he had the bones of being one. The shooting form was always mechanically good, which is why working with Matthews has helped him, because they optimized his jump shot.

Now, Wilson looks even better than he did as a prospect. He is only entering his rookie year, but he has the right attitude with improving his game, which is a big plus for a rebuilding team like the Bulls.
