Caitlin Clark Foundation installs book vending machine at Stead Family Children's Hospital
Iowa women’s basketball legend and current Indiana Fever cornerstone guard Caitlin Clark continued her philanthropic work in Iowa. The Caitlin Clark Foundation installed a book vending machine for patients at the University of Iowa Health Care Stead Family Children’s Hospital.
The Caitlin Clark Foundation said in its announcement that its new program titled “Turning Pages, Healing Hearts” is “designed to empower pediatric patients to find joy and build connections with their siblings, parents, and children’s hospital staff by choosing books that interest them.”
The vending machine at the Stead Family Children’s Hospital is one of three launches happening this August. It joins the Peyton Manning Children’s Hospital at Ascension St. Vincent in Indianapolis that launched last week and Blank Children’s Hospital in Des Moines which will follow later this month.
The machine operates through unique tokens given to the three hospitals, which patients can use to obtain various Scholastic-sponsored books, welcome joy folders, and themed arts and crafts.
While Clark continues to break WNBA records on the court, the new book vending machines are another way the former Hawkeye continues to reciprocate the endless loving support those communities have consistently provided.
