Bulls waive former Pacers guard Kam Jones, who was dealt for Braden Smith

· · 1 min read

INDIANAPOLIS — Former Pacers guard Kam Jones — who was traded to the Bulls in the deal that brought Indiana the picked it used to select Purdue All-American Braden Smith — was waived by Chicago on Tuesday just before a deadline that would have guaranteed his contract at $2.15 million for the season.

The Pacers selected Jones with the No. 38 pick in the 2025 draft out of Marquette where he was a second-team All-American as a senior. However, Jones dealt with a stress reaction in his lower back that kept him out of training camp and the season’s first two months. He averaged 4.4 points and 3.2 assists for the Pacers, starting seven games and playing 37.

Jones becomes an unrestricted free agent.
