Brooks Koepka widely praised for his latest comments after missing out on the PGA Tour playoffs

Brooks Koepka has failed to qualify for the FedExCup Playoffs following his dramatic return to the PGA Tour.

Koepka controversially rejoined the PGA Tour from LIV Golf at the start of the season, making use of the new Returning Member Program.

But his regular season has now come to an end after the Wyndham Championship, where he finished in a tie for 67th place.

That result means he hasn’t done enough to finish in the top 70 for next week’s FedEx St. Jude Championship, which kicks off the PGA Tour playoffs.

Koepka has since offered a brutally honest assessment following his exit, with his candidness now drawing plenty of praise from golf fans.

Koepka labelled missing the playoffs “pathetic”, saying of his failure: “Yeah, pretty disappointed. I think it’s pretty pathetic that I can’t get through.

“Zero top-10s basically in two years. To be in the prime of your career and be as good as I think I am, I think that’s very pathetic, disappointing.”

Reacting to such honesty, one golf fan wrote on X: “Getting close to forgiving this guy and rooting for him… candidness is refreshing.”

A second agreed: “I’ve started to really like Brooks. His honesty is much better, seems like he’s appreciative to be back… but damn leaving for that tour in the middle of the best part of your career is just silly.”

And others concurred, saying: “He’s a great interview. I’m glad he’s back on tour,” and “BK owning it. Respect.”

Another agreed, commenting: “As a fan, I love responses like these. A confident Koepka in 2027 could be fun.”

And others said: “Sounds like he doesn’t want to accept mediocrity, good on Brooks,” and “Very honest evaluation of himself.”

And the praise didn’t end there, with another pleased fan noting: “Koepka still elite with self-talk. Many golfers would make excuses here or try to find some positives on the season. Koepka doesn’t sugarcoat it.”

A former world number one, Koepka is a nine-time PGA Tour winner, claiming five of those wins at major championships.

But the 2026 season has not gone his way, with the American securing just one top 10 finish from his 16 events, from which he made 11 cuts.
