For the past two seasons, Bronny James has been part of the Los Angeles Lakers. He has mostly sat on the bench or played for the then-South Bay Lakers, the team’s G League affiliate. However, it seems that his hard work has been paying off as of late.

Ahead of the 2026-27 season, there were rumors of Bronny possibly getting cut from the roster. That was further amplified when his father, LeBron James, left the Lakers to join the Philadelphia 76ers. Now, it seems Bronny is on track to be part of JJ Redick’s rotation moving forward.

Bronny James might be part of JJ Redick’s 2026-27 rotation

James has played 69 regular season games for the Lakers, but most importantly, he has played in 10 games in the Playoffs as well. That kind of experience might be minuscule for some people, but it is extremely valuable for NBA players.

For a young player like James, that could be the difference for him staying with the Lakers for a long time. Most people might feel that he got the spot because of his dad, but if he continues to play for the Lakers without his father, he will earn so much respect from fans and peers alike.

When people spoke about Bronny in the offseason, a lot of points were made about his potential exit from the Lakers. However, it seems that Bronny has managed to work and carve out a spot in Redick’s plans.

“I think with Collin, (Quentin Grimes), and Bronny, as he continues to develop. Jaden, if he’s in the lineup, there are guys that can handle and guys that can create and initiate offense. My expectation is that because we’ve obviously done some work on some substitution patterns, Doncic and Reaves will stagger,” Redick said about Bronny’s potential spot in the rotation via Dan Woike’s piece for The Athletic.

Redick has been a longtime supporter of Bronny James. That is a good sign because he sees the potential in the younger James, and Redick is ready to double down on that belief in the 2026-27 season.
