Broncos fans blame the same player for Broncos' defensive struggles

Denver Broncos fans are understandably frustrated following the team’s 31-10 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs on Monday Night Football in Week 1.

Denver’s defensive performance was especially dreadful as the team had a historically bad tackling night. Many fans are taking out their frustration on the same player: inside linebacker Alex Singleton.

Singleton, who brushed off the team’s tackling woes, led the defense with five missed tackles on Monday. Singleton has overcome great adversity in his career, and he’s a key team leader and, by all accounts, a great person, but fans are not pleased with his on-field performance.

“We’re gonna be fine,” Singleton said of the team’s poor tackling after Monday’s game. “We’re gonna work on it this week, do what we need to do, and we’re gonna be fine.”

Singleton did lead the team with 16 tackles on Monday, but his missed tackles and unreliable coverage can’t be overlooked. There’s no obvious upgrade on the roster, so unless the Broncos plan to bring in a new linebacker, Singleton will presumably continue starting. Fans in Denver will hope his performance picks up going forward.
