The Milwaukee Brewers are four wins away from a World Series championship, and Jimmy Rollins believes last year’s disappointment changed everything. The former MLB star credited Milwaukee’s maturity after the Brewers swept the Los Angeles Dodgers in the National League Championship Series.

Speaking on TNT Sports, Rollins explained how Milwaukee learned from being swept by Los Angeles last postseason. He recalled Jake Bauers describing how casually the Dodgers handled their previous victory.

According to Rollins, the Brewers adopted that same mentality entering this year’s postseason. Rather than focusing on beating Los Angeles, Milwaukee concentrated on playing its own brand of baseball.

Rollins admitted the Brewers were overmatched against the Dodgers last year. He suggested Milwaukee hoped to win but lacked genuine confidence in its changes.

Rollins compared the rematch to a classic David-and-Goliath battle. He suggested facing a dominant opponent once helped Milwaukee overcome the intimidation factor.

“But after you go up against a bully one time, you’re no longer afraid,” Rollins said.

The former Philadelphia Phillies shortstop emphasized how Milwaukee’s identity helped fuel its postseason turnaround.

“We’re gonna play Brewer baseball,” Rollins said, describing the team’s mindset. “This is what’s gotten us here. We have an identity.”

The Brewers’ response reflected the motivation Bauers carried from their 2025 NLCS defeat. Milwaukee turned that disappointment into a historic reversal against the defending champions.

“You learn a lot more in your losses,” Rollins said.

Milwaukee now needs four more victories to capture its first World Series title in franchise history.
