The Milwaukee Brewers seek revenge on the Los Angeles Dodgers after getting swept in four games in last year’s NLCS. 

In all likelihood, the Dodgers will be strong contenders to reach that stage of the postseason once again. 

How can the Brewers conquer them? It may start with a strong trade deadline. 

Bleacher Report’s Zachary D. Rymer wrote on Wednesday that Milwaukee should link up with the Boston Red Sox. 

But it won’t be a deal for some of Boston’s potentially available position players, like Jarren Duran or Wilyer Abreu. 

“As much as the Brewers could use another bat, their best route to the World Series is to go all-in on run prevention,” Rymer wrote. “Their bullpen could use another power arm, and [Aroldis] Chapman is the best there is despite a couple recent stumbles.” 

Chapman, 38, helped the Chicago Cubs (2016) and Texas Rangers (2023) win the World Series following midseason trades. 

The flamethrowing left-hander is guaranteed $13 million next season if he reaches 40 innings in 2026. 

The Red Sox, at the bottom of the American League standings, would be wise to trade Chapman without losing him for nothing. 

“As a reminder that ace relievers have inflated value at the deadline, Chapman was once traded for Gleyber Torres,” Rymer added.

“The Brewers’ No. 3 farm system should make them equal to the task, and one wonders if an MLB-ready catcher like Jeferson Quero could interest Boston.” 

Milwaukee may be willing to part with Quero, given that William Contreras is the catcher of the current and future.
