Brendan Sorsby, NFL and NFLPA reach settlement; QB 2027 draft eligible

The NFL, NFLPA and quarterback Brendan Sorsby have reached a settlement, resolving any claims related to the league’s decision not to hold a 2026 supplemental draft and making Sorsby eligible for the 2027 NFL Draft, according to a report via Twitter/X from NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero.

Pelissero added that there will be no additional discipline for any prior conduct.

Sorsby will focus on his preparation for entry into the 2027 NFL Draft, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. Schefter added that Sorsby will not be eligible to sign an NFL player contract until the completion of the 2027 NFL Draft.

Sorsby, who had been considered a potential NFL draft first-round pick in 2027, played the past two seasons for the Bearcats after spending his first two seasons at Indiana University. Sorsby left UC for Texas Tech, which he chose over LSU.

Cody Campbell, Texas Tech’s chairman of the board of regents, said in a statement that the university would not seek the return of any money paid to Sorsby through his NIL agreements with the school.

The NIL package Sorsby received from Texas Tech was reported to be worth about $5 million.
