Breiden Fehoko ruthlessly calls out NFL over playing Canadian national anthem during Bills vs. Lions

The Buffalo Bills vs. Detroit Lions Week 2 matchup featured something unexpected for the American audience.

The 2026-27 NFL season is well and truly underway as the Buffalo Bills and Detroit Lions engaged in a terrific Week 2 game.

After the dust settled, the Bills walked away with a 41-31 win over the Lions. However, a key talking point of the game wasn’t the on-field play.

Instead, fans were surprised to see the Canadian national anthem being played as the Bills began a new era at Highmark Stadium.

The NFL may be the biggest football league in the US, but it still doesn’t have a Canadian-origin team.

Keeping that in mind, the use of the Canadian national anthem during the Bills’ first-ever regular-season game at Highmark Stadium didn’t sit well with former NFL player Breiden Fehoko.

“The fact that we allowed the Canadian national anthem on American soil last night was disrespectful. This same country booed our National Anthem when it was performed.

“Be better NFL. Stop trynna be inclusive,” Fehoko said on his show.

While the Bills also featured the American national anthem, Fehoko still couldn’t move past the Canadian national anthem being sung on US soil.

Many fans shared Fehoko’s anger toward the NFL, as they want the league to focus on football rather than trying to be more inclusive.
