Chris Sale is, well, still Chris Sale. The Atlanta Braves ace made sure his final start of the 2026 MLB regular season was one to remember, as he helped take down the Cincinnati Reds in a 3-2 victory on Wednesday at Truist Park in Atlanta.

Against the Reds, the 37-year-old Sale needed just 5 2/3 innings to punch out 10 Cincinnati batters, while allowing only an earned run on four hits with zero walks.

With those strikeouts, Sale is once again finishing a season with at least 200 batters fanned — the ninth time in his career, to be precise.

Sale got the big strikeout that notched him the feat in the sixth inning against Cincinnati first baseman Sal Stewart.

Sale overcame an early home run he gave up to Reds second baseman Juan Brito, as the future Baseball Hall of Famer hurler was steady on the mound the rest of the way.

This is a return to the 200-K form for Sale, who had 165 srtikeouts in 2025.

The former Cy Young Award winner and 10-time All-Star Sale also improved to 14-9 with a 2.16 ERA and 0.98 WHIP through 27 starts in another stellar campaign for the verteran pitcher.

But fans have not seen the last of Sale this year, with the Braves already secured of a spot in the upcoming 2026 MLB playoffs. They have won the National League East Division title, and will look to close out the season strong with four more games left on their schedule. Atlanta has a series finale against the Reds on Thursday before hitting the road for a final series against the Miami Marlins, beginning on Friday, at LoanDepot Park in Miami.
