Bransgrove steps down as Hampshire chair after 26 years

Hampshire chairman Rod Bransgrove has stepped down from the role after 26 years at the helm.

The move comes after GMR Global, the joint owners of Indian Premier League side Delhi Capitals, completed its full acquisition of the club.

Bransgrove took charge in 2000, overseeing the move to the Utilita Bowl the following year.

Kiran Kumar Grandhi, the chairman of GMR Sports, succeeds Bransgrove, who has been appointed honorary life president and will remain a director.

GMR’s takeover of Hampshire was first ratified in September 2024, when they became the first English county to be owned by an overseas franchise.

The parties agreed a “phased acquisition”, which saw GMR take an immediate majority stake with the aim of concluding a 100% takeover within two years.

That process has now been completed, allowing Bransgrove to step down.
